I? Am boiling. This is ridiculous, it has been NICE and WARM and lovely and all but this dorm is not equipped for NICE and WARM and lovely which means I am not-nice and blegh and a bit bit sweaty. Oh, and hungry. Will take care of that soon enough.

Newest obsession: Star Trek. Went and saw the new movie with [personal profile] angryhamster, decided to peek at the fandom, decided that I wanted to know the rest of the canon. I love Spock so much. And Chekov. Chekov is about the cutest thing since sliced bread. Not that slices bread is particularly cute, but still.

Been a busy week or so. Good friend had a birth, massive amount of planning went into that (and drinking, drinking tends to happen, but not as much as it used to-I am behaving!!) And of course, MY birthday is next week. And then I have to move dorms. To another one that won't be any cooler, most like, but perhaps it will rain again soon. It's Ireland, it should.

I never thought I would ever complain about the heat before it reached 80F. Clearly living here has changed my body temperature in ways that were completely unanticipated.

I'm tired of castles in the air

For some reason, I sort of want to update this journal more so than my LJ. I think it has to to do with the fact that I put so much effort into my layout and icons over there that the idea of revamping them like I KNOW I NEED TO makes me cringe. Because that was seriously a lot of effort to do.

So here I have a pretty simple layout c/o [livejournal.com profile] thefulcrum, a concise profile, lovely icons and a clean slate. This pleases me. New sandbox, etc.

I finished the paper I was writing on Eureka Street and had a meeting with my supervisor on Edgeworth this week. I also went to Trinity Ball, which was brilliant in strange and freezing ways, and played insane amounts of cards until the sun came up. Later this week [livejournal.com profile] duchessdollydot will be coming to Dublin for a visit, which is exciting because she is one of my oldest 'net friends, back from my pre-LJ messageboarding days, and when you think about it, one of my oldest friends period because I am one of those sorts that doesn't tend to hang onto people for long.

It's interesting, my time in Ireland is winding down, people are starting to head home and won't be coming back. Heading to lunch with friends in a bit to make the most of it. I like thinking on how we all became such good friends--throw a bunch of postgrads from a variety of different countries into one building and see what happens! Start everyone off alone and watch a community form. We got over the idea of house-cest long ago though. Too awkward to date someone you're practically living in the pocket of. Though it does make the walk of shame the next morning a bit easier, if more likely to be embarrassing. No need for going outside/buses/cabs/etc, but anyone you run into Knows What Is Up.

Fandomly speaking, I have a Merlin fic to finish where Merlin pulls a Jack and gets stuck for a millennium or so. As a tree and not in the dirt and with more Crazy after because he doesn't get to die at all. And with Arthur dreaming his way through legend. I haven't really worked out where it goes from there, but it should be an adventure, at least. I also joined [community profile] flashfic_hub so I might use that as a springboard to give TW fic a go. And I'm still slowly working my way through Classic Who in between keeping up with....everything else I watch.

Amazing I ever have time to sleep.

But for now, it's time for lunch! Have an eating Jack.
